DAY 1: SAN JOSE
Welcome to San Jose, Costa Rica!
Reception at the Juan Santamaria International Airport and transfer to your hotel in San Jose.
The capital city of San Jose, considered to be one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Latin America, is located in the middle of the Central Valley in the center of the country. The city features popular tourist attractions, such as historical buildings, museums, theaters, artisan markets, beautiful parks, shopping centers, and a varied gastronomic scene.

DAY 2: SAN JOSE - ARENAL VOLCANO (3 HRS. APPROX.)

In the morning, you will transfer by shared transport to the Arenal Volcano in the Northern Plains region. Majestic in its grand stature, the volcano is one of the country’s natural wonders. While the volcano is quiet these days and there are no lava eruptions, you can still see clouds of smoke or ash emanating from the top of the cinder cone. As well, you can enjoy the plentiful hot springs in the area. Along your journey to the town of La Fortuna located at the base of the volcano, you will see agricultural plantations, large ornamental plant nurseries, and cattle farms.

DAY 3: ARENAL VOLCANO

In the morning, you will visit the Río Fortuna Waterfall, located in the humid tropical forest biological reserve that is part of the Arenal Volcano National Park. The path to the base of the waterfall goes down 530 steps and there are several areas along the way where you can stop and rest. At the bottom, you can take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Fortuna River.
Then, we will have lunch at an organic production farm near La Fortuna.
At 3:00 p.m., we continue to the Arenal 1968 Park, here the guide will tell about the natural and geological history of the volcano, you will walk along a solid lava path and enjoy an excellent view of the Arenal Lake and Volcano.

DAY 4: ARENAL VOLCANO - MONTEVERDE (3.5 HRS. APPROX.)

Transfer to Monteverde. Encompassing rainforest, cloud forest, and spectacular biodiversity, Monteverde has one of the rarest and most unique habitats on the planet, not to mention an astonishing variety of flora and fauna. Its strategic position straddling the Continental Divide between the Caribbean and the Pacific coasts creates the rare cloud forest, a distinctive microclimate for the many extraordinary species that inhabit this area. You will experience beautiful landscapes during your journey and will see how locals live when passing typical small villages.

DAY 5: MONTEVERDE

Explore the Monteverde Cloud Forest while you traverse various trails and a series of suspension bridges at different levels of a wonderfully diverse ecosystem. You'll cross suspension bridges with full views of the forest canopy, and from the forest floor along well-maintained nature trails, a naturalist guide will point out intriguing plant and animal life.
Complement your day with a visit to the Monteverde Butterfly Garden and also learn about the insects and arachnids of Costa Rica that will make you change the way people think about these little and misunderstood creatures. This garden offers you up to 30 species of butterflies in 4 different habitats and more than 20 species of insects and arachnids alive in our natural center.

DAY 6: MONTEVERDE - MANUEL ANTONIO (4.5 HRS. APPROX.)

This morning, you will descend from the mountains to the warm coast of the Central Pacific. In Manuel Antonio, you will enjoy being next to one of Costa Rica’s favorite national parks. Manuel Antonio is one of the smallest parks yet it is the most visited for its beautiful beaches between coastal foothills, lush forest, and abundant wildlife.

DAY 7: MANUEL ANTONIO

In the morning, you’ll walk the trails in the Manuel Antonio National Park, often called a natural jewel for its picturesque beauty and abundant wildlife diversity. There are several trails for walking with many viewpoints, and there is a high probability of seeing animals in their natural habitat. At various points, the trails branch off and lead to four separate beaches: Espadilla Sur, Manuel Antonio, Escondida, and Playita, where you can swim in crystal clear, warm water.
We are going to enjoy some fresh fruit and natural soft drinks, while we stop to enjoy the idyllic beauty of Playa Manuel Antonio, with its white sands and green forest trying to reach the foam of the waves that give shape to this National Park.

DAY 8: MANUEL ANTONIO - SAN JOSE (3.5 HRS. APPROX.)

Today you depart to the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose. You will return in a shared transfer, if your flight leaves before 16:00, you will require a private transfer for an additional amount.

Recommendations:
- Passport with no less than 6 months of validity
- Travel alarm clock (some hotels have them, others do not; so, it's a good idea to bring one)
- Sun block and insect repellent
- Shirts: cotton or light synthetic, long and short sleeves
- Pants: lightweight cotton or synthetic pants. Bring at least 2 sets of clothes that dry quickly (jeans are not recommended; too slow to dry)
- Footwear: lightweight waterproof hiking boots, river sandals (Teva type sandals), tennis shoes
- Running shoes / sneakers. If you are not wearing hiking boots, be sure to bring TWO pairs of tennis shoes. As soon as a pair gets wet, wear them when your feet are likely to get wet. Make every effort to keep the other pair dry!
- Socks: bring extra pairs in case your feet get wet
- Swimsuit
- Rainwear: poncho, raincoat, and umbrella
- Hat(s) with a brim for protection against rain and sun
- Reusable water bottle for walks
